Every so often, a rogue item slips into our coffee radar that has absolutely nothing to do with espresso, pour-overs, or Austin's thriving third-wave scene — and this is one of those moments. A recent item flagged in our feed turned out to be about Austin Waldorf School unveiling a new facility, which, while no doubt exciting for that community, is decidedly outside our lane as devoted coffee nerds.
We tip our Chemex to the Austin Waldorf School and wish them well in their new space. Education is important — after all, someone has to grow up to become the next generation of baristas, roasters, and specialty coffee obsessives keeping Austin's café culture alive and endlessly interesting.
In the meantime, we're keeping our grinders dialed in and our ears to the ground for the real stuff: new roaster launches, café openings on the east side, single-origin drops, and whatever wild fermentation process some Austin roaster is about to introduce to our palates. Austin's coffee scene moves fast, and we have no intention of missing a single shot of it.
Stay tuned — and stay caffeinated. There's plenty of genuine Austin coffee news brewing, and we'll have it in your cup before the bloom even settles.
